Product qualification

At Sadesign, we carefully select the products we offer, giving priority to responsible materials, transparent supply chains and recognised certifications. T make its choice clearer and more understandable, we use a simple rating system based on verifiable and available product information:
•    origin e production
•    materials e composition
•    certifications (of material or product)
The result is expressed with an immediate indicator: from 0 to 3 leaves

Each product can be rated from 0 to 3 leaves, based on its overall level of sustainability.
•    0 leaves→ the product does not have sufficient elements to be considered sustainable
•    1 leaf→ basic sustainability
•    2 leaves→ good sustainability
•    3 leaves → maximum level of sustainability

The qualification considers three main areas:
•    Origin e production: we evaluate where the product is manufactured or assembled, favouring closer and traceable supply chains.
•    Materials e composition: we evaluate the presence and percentage of sustainable, natural or recycled materials.
•    Certificazions: we evaluate the presence of certifications issued by third-party bodies, which guarantee environmental and/or social criteria throughout the supply chain.

Not all certifications have the same meaning. Some refer to a material or component, while others certify the entire finished product.

These certifications guarantee the sustainability or safety of part of the product (e.g. fabric, paper or wood), without necessarily covering the entire product life cycle.
Examples:
•    FSC / PEFC → responsible sourcing of wood or paper
•    OEKO-TEX Standard 100 → absence of harmful substances in fabric
•    RCS / GRS → recycled content of material
•    Leather Working Group (LWG) → sustainability standards for leather

These certifications are more comprehensive because they evaluate the product as a whole: traceability of materials, manufacturing processes, environmental requirements and often social requirements as well.
Examples:
•    Fairtrade Cotton / Fairtrade Textile Standard
•    Cradle to Cradle Certified

We want to make sustainability understandable and measurable, without making generic promises.
Our goal is to offer clear criteria to guide choices and promote products made with better materials, more responsible processes and verifiable certifications.
